“Success means doing the best we can with what we have. Success is the doing, not the getting; in the trying, not the triumph. Success is a personal standard, reaching for the highest that is in us,

becoming all that we can be.”
– Zig Ziglar

God has brought us from a mighty long way!

Vision to Organize + Date

After serving as pastor of a church in College Park for approximately two years, I felt that it was time for me to leave due to the church leadership deciding to go in a different direction than the one God had gave me for them.  My plans after this experience was to return to my home church.  However, upon announcing my resignation, there were members of the church I was pastoring that came to me and stated that they felt that they were being abandoned and would not stay at the church if I left and desired to establish a new fellowship.  Needless to say, their concerns were impactful and after praying to God regarding this decision, we organized a new church.  Consequently, in February of 1987, on the third Sunday, Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church had its first worship service.

Initial Membership & Leader                                         In this initial service there was approximately thirteen members but not all of them would continue with us. Of course, I was the founder and pastor, but we elected Sis. Vernon Pringle as our treasury and Sis. Johnnie Jones as our secretary. ___________________________________________________________________

Evolution of Our Facility

We were able to maintain services at Sis. J. L. Jones home for approximately three months; and afterwards, we began having services at the College Park International Trade Center for four months.  After this interval we leased an office space at Greenbriar Parkway Center for approximately two years and in 1989 we moved into our current facility which God has allowed us to transform from its original state.

Opening of The Fellowship Hall

Our church had a parsonage that we rented out initially to help subsidize the mortgage.  However, it became a problem finding renters who would pay the rent and the city and county taxes had become enormous.  Therefore, the church decided that it would be more feasible to convert the parsonage into a Fellowship Hall which has been dedicated in honor of Deacon Walter E. Jones for his leadership in the conversion of the parsonage to a fellowship hall.fermentum mollis.
