Beginning and Early Years

Sister Shelia Jordan is a native Georgian and was born in the city of Atlanta at the renown Hughes Spalding Hospital. Her parents are the late Elder David and Sister Marie Atkins and she is the third of four children. At the tender age of sixteen she surrender her life to our Lord Jesus and in her Junior year of high school she gained employment as an associate with Hancock Fabrics. In 1974 she graduated from Fulton High School and chose a career path in business administration as directed by her dad.

Education and Employment

After graduating from high school Sis. Jordan begin her undergraduates studies at Georgia State University in their business school.  Upon completing her college degree in 1982, Shelia obtained brief employment with the IRS and this was follower by her commencing a career with the DeKalb County Board of Education. Later, She completed her Master of Education from Cambridge University in Boston, Massachusetts and after thirty years of educating students she retired from full time teaching in 2014.

Family and Church Life

Shelia married a young man by the name of Randy Jordan in 1978 who also graduated from the same elementary, high school and University she attended. Since her husband has been a pastor for over thirty years, she likewise has been a First Lady of a local congregation for as long  as her spouse has been leading a congregation. First Lady Shelia and her spouse have one surviving child of four by the name of Anna-Marie Denise Jordan who married DeAntoine Rome in 2016. 

 

One of Sis. Jordan passions is that of teaching youth. She believes that if we can instill knowledge, values, and reverence for God in a child's early years this can help produce model and productive citizens in our society. Her husband states Shelia is one of the women in our society who meets the definition of the Proverbs 31 woman. That is; not only is she a virtuous woman, but the prize of having her as a wife far exceeds rubies.
